 1. What does AmeriGo Abroad do?
We guide U.S. families through the process of relocating to Portugal with personalized support—from visas and paperwork to housing, schools, and even the best local cafés. We’ve personally made the move ourselves, so we know the challenges and the shortcuts, and we’re here to make your transition smoother. 

2. Do you only help Americans?
We specialize in helping U.S. citizens (non-EU) move to Portugal, but we’re happy to guide other English-speaking friends too.

3. What visas are available for moving to Portugal?
The most common visas for Americans include: D7 Visa – for retirees or those with passive income. D8 (Digital Nomad) Visa – for remote workers or freelancers. D2 Visa – for entrepreneurs and business owners. Student Visa (D4) – for those studying in Portugal.

4. Do you handle the visa process for me?
We don’t replace an immigration lawyer, but we coach you step-by-step, provide document checklists, prepare you for your visa appointment, and share our own lived experience to ensure you’re confident and prepared.

5. What’s a NIF, and do I need one?
Yes—you’ll need a Portuguese tax number (NIF) very early in the relocation process. It’s required for  almost everything, from renting an apartment to opening a bank account.

6. Can you help me find housing?
Yes. We connect you with trusted local realtors and provide tips for navigating Portugal’s rental market. 

7. Do you help with schools for kids?
Absolutely. We've been through "finding the right school" and can help you explore the right fit for your family.

8. Do you help with pets?
Yes! We brought pets as well. We provide guidance on pet relocation—including USDA Health certificate, microchip, vaccinations, and tapeworm treatment requirements—so your furry family members can make the move smoothly.

9. What is a “Getting Settled” package?
This is our virtual support service for your first two weeks in Portugal. We help you figure out immediate needs like where to get groceries, home goods, SIM cards, gas, coffee, and even how to order food and grocery delivery—so you’re not overwhelmed on day one.

10. How much does it cost to work with you?
We offer a relocation package for $499, with $100 add-ons for dependents. Pets are free! We also offer a "Getting Settled" package for $249 that includes virtual support for anything within your first 2 weeks after arriving in Portugal. 

11. Do I really need help, or can I do this myself?
Many people do it themselves, including us! But it can be stressful, confusing, and time-consuming. We created AmeriGo because we wished we had someone like us, at an affordable price, during our process! We’ve already gone through it, made the mistakes, and built a network—so you don’t have to.
